Life is good a miracle

The more of medicine you study, the more you realise the infinite amount of things that can kill you. The fact that we are still living and breathing at this moment defies the laws of probability. =)

Pang Seh

Watched 夜宴 yesterday. When the emperor decided to hold a banquet, he gave this order:

"不到者,斩!!!"

How I wish I can give that kind of order oso. -_-

Unified Circle of Trust

Quoted from http://www.wisdomquotes.com/

"Why not let people differ about their answers to the great mysteries of the Universe? Let each seek one's own way to the highest, to one's own sense of supreme loyalty in life, one's ideal of life. Let each philosophy, each world-view bring forth its truth and beauty to a larger perspective, that people may grow in vision, stature and dedication.

The religions of humanity should be a unifying force, for all the great religions reveal a basic unity in ethics. Whether it be Judaism, Catholicism, Protestantism, Buddhism or Confucianism, all grow out of a sense of the sacredness of human life. This moral sensitivity to the sacredness of human personality -- the Commandments not to kill, not to hurt, not to put a stumbling block in the path of the blind, not to neglect the widow or the fatherless, not to exploit the servant or the worker -- all this can be found in the Bibles of humanity, in all the sacred books. All teach in substance: "Do unto others as you would that others should do unto you." There is, then, a basic unity among the great religions in the matter of ethics. True, there are religious philosophies which turn people away from the world, from the here and now, concentrating life-purposes on salvation for one's self or a mystic union with some supernatural reality. But most of the great religions agree on mercy, justice, love -- here on earth. And they agree that the great task is to move people from apathy, from an acceptance of the evils in life, to face the possibilities of the world, to make life sweet for one another instead of bitter. This is the unifying ethical task of all the religions -- yes, of all the philosophies of humankind. There is no need to force our own theological points of view upon one another or to insist that the moral life grows out of final, absolute authority.
"

- Algernon Black

"Religions are many and diverse, but reason and goodness are one."

- Elbert Hubbard, The Roycroft Dictionary and Book of Epigrams, 1923

Just do it.

The answer had always been with me. Yet I needed someone else to tell me to face it. Face the answer I was avoiding because I was afraid. Keeping myself in a state of confusion to avoid the answer I have always known.

Without a risk of failure, there cannot be a chance of success. Learn to accept failure as a part of life. If you try, you may fail, but if you do not try, you will never succeed.

加油 everybody.

The previous weekend

Well, we lost the quiz, but the trip to KL was fun. So the question I keep getting these few days is "To who?" or "Why?"

"Lost to who?"
Ans: Nobody. We lost to the quiz. Lost to the format. Lost to the different emphasis on the syllabus. Lost to the fact that we have not been taught neuroscience. We could answer questions we were supposed to know, but luck was just not on our side. Well...we did try our best..

But we didn't mind much. We enjoyed the free food, took photos with chiobus, tok kok wif ppl, walked around, went shopping, watched movies on the luxurious coach...

And to those who are concerned about my previous entry...dun worry...I'm just in refractory period. Shall return to resting membrane potential after a while...

Stupidity

I feel stupid because I put high hopes on a thing that my logical self knows has a low chance of success.

I feel stupid because I agreed to go for the MU Physio Quiz when I was not prepared to commit and not very enthusiastic about it in the first place. Now I'm going to make a fool of myself.

I feel stupid for allowing a person whom I do not know well at all to affect my mood.

I feel stupid because I have not been following the M2 lectures because of last minute mugging for the quiz. So for the past few days, I could only listen dumbly when my frens engage in academic discussions.

I feel stupid for confiding in so many ppl, resulting in "signal-amplification".

I feel stupid for letting emotions cloud my reason, for having unrealistic thoughts.

But I am glad that I have frens like qy, who bother to give me pats on the shoulder everyday. I really appreciate it. =)
